Dr Aminath Zeyba Ahmed, a Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine, has been appointed as the Medical Director of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The hospital announced that Dr Zeyba, who has extensive experience as the Head of the Trauma and Emergency Department, will serve a term of three years in this role.
The previous Medical Director was radiologist Dr Aminath Nazeer. Following the end of her term, an internal announcement at the hospital led to the selection process for a new Medical Director, during which Dr Zeyba scored the highest marks in her interview.
As Medical Director, Dr Zeyba's responsibilities include overseeing clinical operations and ensuring the highest standards of care, fostering a friendly environment where both patients and staff can thrive.
According to the job matrix released by the National Pay Commission, the basic salary for a Medical Director is MVR 41,344. With allowances totaling MVR 30,782, the take-home pay amounts to MVR 72,125 per month.
Dr. Zeyba has dedicated 15 years to the health sector and is also the President of the Medical Association. Previously, she was well known to the public as a presenter and news anchor on state media Television Maldives (TVM).
