Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a Yellow Alert from Haa Alifu atoll in the northernmost Maldives to Meemu atoll in south-central Maldives.

MET forecasted heavy rain, strong winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, and rough seas for these regions.

However, the national weather agency predicts that the weather will improve within the next 72 hours.

While the MET has predicted bad weather for most parts of the Maldives, many people are traveling to different islands following the end of the Eid holidays.
