President Abdulla Yameen has extended this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, declaring June 28 and 29 as public holidays.
According to a press statement released by the President's Office on Tuesday, government offices will open on June 2, after the Eid break.
“In the event Eid ul-Fitr is determined to fall on Sunday June 25, Wednesday June 28, and Thursday June 29 will be declared public holidays” read the statement.
However, should Eid ul-Fitr fall on Monday, June 26, only Thursday, June 29, will be declared a public holiday.
The two consecutive days following the day of Eid ul-Fitr are predetermined holidays on the occasion of the celebration.
