Maldives Police Service announced Monday that all suspects in connection to the murder of blogger Yameen Rasheed have been arrested and that Police are now working to forward the charges to the Prosecutor General (PG).
In a statement, Police said that the investigation has achieved major developments.
Previously it was reported that seven suspects are under arrest over Yameen Rasheed's murder but the authorities have not disclosed further details on the suspects.
An official of Police Headquarters reiterated that the investigation is making steady progress with cooperation from various authorities and individuals, again declaring that there is hope of closing the case successfully.
According to Police, there were several challenges to the probe as some lawyers and foreign institutes allegedly attempted to influence the investigation and change the focus of the case.
Yameen Rasheed, 29, of Addu atoll Feydhoo island was found murdered with multiple stab wounds by the stairway of his house in capital Male. His family and friends are conducting several activities to demand justice for Yameen, while several foreign institutions have also condemned the murder and called on the government to conduct a thorough, independent probe.
