Maldives hands over main airport security to Police

Maldives Police Service on Tuesday signed an agreement to provide security services at the main airport of the Maldives.

Police media reports that under the agreement made with Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL), Police will soon commence security services at Velana International Airport (VIA).

The security services will focus on areas open to the public.

On behalf of Police, the agreement was signed by Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Saudee and while MACL was represented by Managing Director Adil Moosa.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Saudee highlighted the importance of monitoring security at the airport, declaring that it is vital to maintain regulations and procedures at VIA during the ongoing expansion of services.
