Acts of thievery from mosques has been escalating since the beginning of Ramadan.
Police revealed that the man arrested on charges of stealing fans from various mosques was a 31-year-old Maldivian man. They had arrested him last Monday while he was out with a fan that is believed to have been stolen, Police said.
The man was further accused of stealing a water motor from a mosque as well.

City council has previously stated that seven fans were stolen from Taqwa Mosque over three nights.
