Over 10 years has passed since the Asian Carrom Championships was halted with the latest tournament held in India in 2013. Maldives Carrom Association had taken the initiative to recommence these championships.

The Association had collaborated with the Asian Carrom Federation to devise a plan to proceed the tournaments without a hiatus.

“There will be an Asian Federation meeting [for the congress] one day during the championship wherein two representatives of each country will attend. We have already requested a five-year plan in this congress. The International Federation has also already notified to form a hosting list on countries that will host the tournament during these five years,” the General Secretary elaborated

“Nine of these 12 countries (that will arrive in Maldives for the tournament] is included in this list at present. So the congress will reveal the countries that will host the tournament in the upcoming five years.”

The Carrom Championship is scheduled to begin on April 27. The matches of the tournament that spans across five days will be held at the indoor hall of Social Center.
