Nuzuha's appointment to the commission came after media reports suggested that there had been a delay in her appointment process.
Aminath Nuzuha, who received parliamentary approval three weeks ago, has been appointed as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission.
Nuzuha was appointed to the post by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today. However, unlike usual practice, Nuzuha was not presented with her letter of appointment at the President’s Office.
According to Nuzuha, her letter of appointment was sent to her residence by the President's Office.
In usual practice, a special ceremony is held at the President's Office to appoint individuals to independent institutions and posts. Members of the Broadcasting Commission were traditionally appointed in the same manner during former governments.
It is unclear whether the government has currently changed this policy.
Nuzuha's appointment to the commission came after media reports suggested that there had been a delay in her appointment process.
Nuzuha has a long-standing career as a journalist at Rajje TV.
The current president of the Broadcasting Commission is Mariyam Waheeda, with Mohamed Fazeen serving as the vice-president. Other members of the commission include Ali Yoosuf, Aminath Ameen, Shifla Ibrahim, and Sofa Shafeeq, all of whom have been active in various media outlets in the past.
