Three boats have been destroyed entirely so far in a fire that broke out in a Kaashidhoo boat yard.
A major fire has broken out at a boatyard in Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo, with three boats having been destroyed in the fire till now.
A person from the island informed Mihaaru News that the fire continues to spread uncontrolled, with three boats destroyed until now.
"We are leaning towards thinking this is arson. It is so far unclear exactly how this happened. We don't even know how many boats are here. The entire area is on fire, in various locations, the entire place is full of smoke," he said.
No official word has been received on the matter so far, while people on the island say that MNDF and residents of the island are working together in efforts to get the fire under control.
