The prices of Kandoodhoo chili have decreased since its initial demand at the start of Ramadan.

Initially, Kandoodhoo chili was priced at MVR 750 per kg and higher. However, current reports from local vendors indicate a decline in prices, with the chili now ranging between MVR 400-500 per kg.

In previous fasting months, the price of this popular spicy Maldivian chili had surged to as high as MVR 1,200 per kg.

With various vegetables abundant in the markets, the prices have not seen significant increases compared to previous fasting months. But the price of oranges has reached MVR 10 per orange in some shops.

Ufanveli, an importer of fruits and vegetables, offers oranges at MVR 8 each.

'Kurumba' (young coconuts), typically priced between MVR 20-25, is now being sold for MVR 35-40. Lemons are available at MVR 60 per kg, while passion fruits are priced at MVR 140 per kg.

Bananas are currently priced at MVR 60-70 per kg, pineapples at MVR 60 each, and coconuts between MVR 8-20.

Importers have noted that there have been no significant obstacles this year in importing food items for Ramadan.
