The military drones brought from Turkey for the purpose of ocean territory surveillance is undergoing test flights in Noonu atoll Maafaru.
Video footage showing the drone being flown over Maafaru has emerged on social media.
As reported in Mihaaru, a special team from MNDF has travelled to Maafaru to operate the drones.
In his trip to Turkey soon after assuming office, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu observed various military equipment used in the country, and entered an agreement with a Turkish company on obtaining military drones.
Details of this agreement remain undisclosed to date.
President Dr Muizzu has stated that the Maldives will build capacity within the month to a level where it can constantly monitor its Exclusive Economic Zone, or entire ocean territory, without interruption and independently, without outside assistance.
