Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that for Tarawih prayers this Ramadan in the Greater Male' region, prayers of 20 rakats observing Hifz [reciting entire Quran with intention to memorize] will be practiced in 30 mosques, with shorter Tarawih prayers being conducted in 18 mosques.

As per the Ministry, 18 mosques in Male' will be conducting Tarawih with Hifz, as well as 1 mosque in VilliMale' and 11 in Hulhumale'.

Tarawih without Hifz will be performed in 13 mosques in Male' City, 2 mosques in VilliMale' and 3 mosques in Hulhumale'.

Islamic Ministry stated that 32 local Hafiz, as well as 18 foreign Hafiz will be leading the Tarawih prayers this year.

While the Ministry no longer brings in foreign Hafizes, it does provide allowances to Hafizes invited by organizations and councils.

The Ministry has also made arrangements for women to pray in congregation in all these listed mosques.
