President appoints Judge HusnuSuood to JSC

Supreme Court Judge Husnu Suood has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Thursday.

At a ceremony held at the President's Office, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented Suood with the letter of appointment. Judge Ali Rasheed Hussain administered the oath of office.

According to the President's Office, Suood has been appointed as a member of the JSC in accordance with Article 158 of the Constitution and Article 3 of the JSC Act as a judge other than the Chief Justice elected by the Supreme Court.

Suood, who completed his Masters in Law at Queensland University in Australia, was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court during the previous administration.

Justice Suood, who was a member of the JSC in the past, is also the President of the Judges Association of Maldives.
