EC announces time frame for candidacy withdrawals

The Elections Commission (EC) announced on Wednesday that it is now accepting requests for withdrawal of candidacy from applicants for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

In a statement released yesterday, the commission said that the window for sending in requests of candidacy withdrawal will be open till 14:00 hrs on Friday, February 16.

The commission has a dedicated form that applicants must fill should they wish to submit such a request.

As the window for applications for candidacy closed at 14:00 hrs yesterday, the commission had received forms for 381 candidates for 93 constituencies. The number is subject to change as the commission will be reviewing the applications and may have to reject incomplete or otherwise ineligible forms.
