Thimarafushi MP Abdulla Riyaz has expressed his determination to secure four seats for the PPM/PNC coalition in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

While addressing residents in Kinbidhoo during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to Thaa Atoll, Riyaz, who also serves as the Vice President of The Maldives National Party (MNP), emphasized that advancing the economic agenda for the atoll relies on elevating its prominence within the president's priorities, a feat achievable through a significant representation in parliament.

Riyaz underscored the necessity of parliamentary reforms to facilitate development and enact substantial legislative changes, emphasizing that such advancements hinge on a commanding majority held by the ruling party.

He urged the populace of Thaa Atoll to collectively contemplate the reasons behind their atoll's inadequate recognition within the government's agenda and called for cross-ideological support for President Muizzu to catalyze much-needed development initiatives.

Assuring the President of his commitment, Riyaz pledged to secure four parliamentary seats in Thaa Atoll with the backing of God's blessings and the people's support. Notably, in the previous presidential election, President Muizzu garnered the highest vote count from Thaa Guraidhoo.

During his address in Kandoodhoo, President Muizzu acknowledged the historical oversight of Thaa Atoll in development initiatives and affirmed his dedication to prioritizing its economic advancement.

Riyaz lamented the unfulfilled promise of the Kinbidhoo-Veymandoo causeway project by the previous administration and criticized MDP MP Mohamed Nashiz, representing the Kinbidhoo constituency, for purportedly neglecting his duties. He urged the President to incorporate the causeway project into the government's agenda, citing the incumbent Kinbidhoo MP's alleged inactivity during the previous government's tenure as a grave dereliction of duty.

Furthermore, Riyaz advocated for the expansion of fisheries and tourism in the region as additional avenues for bolstering economic growth.
