President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have moved to Muliaage, the official presidential residence, approximately three months after President Muizzu assumed office.

It has been revealed that the first family moved to Muliaage on Monday, a day before their visit to Thaa Atoll.

Upon taking office, President Muizzu and his family had been residing in their private residence, Maafannu Dhimyaath, as extensive repairs were required at Muliaage.

The government had earlier stated that the renovation of Muliaage was a necessary step due to the age of the premises, with repairs aimed to preserve the historical essence of the building without altering its original structure.

Muliaage, constructed 104 years ago during the reign of Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddin, served as a temporary residence for former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom until the completion of Theemuge in 1994. Former President Mohamed Nasheed resided in Muliaage from 2008 up till his resignation in 2012, and former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih lived there throughout his tenure.
