The largest private hospital in the Maldives, ADK Hospital, proclaimed Monday that it currently cannot provide the national healthcare scheme “Aasandha” despite the government’s earlier announcement of restoring the scheme back to the private sector.

Aasandha had abruptly announced late Saturday that it is curtailing its services to only state hospitals and medical centres. However, the President’s Office declared early Monday that the national healthcare scheme has been restored to hospitals of the private sector as well.

However, ADK Hospital said in a statement that Aasandha Company Pvt Ltd has not yet officially confirmed with ADK that the Aasandha scheme has been restored to the hospital. Thus, the agreement between ADK and Aasandha remains terminated.

ADK assured its patients and customers that the hospital will be back on board with the healthcare scheme services as soon as it is able to renew the contract with Aasandha Company.
