President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced on Sunday that henceforth, government offices will be closed during the last ten days of Ramadan every year.

A statement from the President's Office states that this move has been made in accordance with the President's prioritizing of promoting Islamic values. They said that taking away the necessity to work in the last third of Ramadan, said to be the holiest period of the month, would allow people to commit more time to religious activities.

The President's Office issued a directive to government offices today, where they were asked to clearly communicate operating hours during this period to the public, and to come up with a plan to ensure that essential services to the public are provided.

In order to further progress this work, the President' Office has held meetings with relevant authorities to explore ways in which the services can continue most efficiently during this period.

They appealed to the authorities to make use of various mediums to better spread information regarding changed service times and other information to the public.
