President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the government is in full swing to issue land registries to all those who have received land plots in the Malé area.

He made this statement while responding to a query from a citizen during the ongoing "President's Answer" session, where the President addresses public inquiries. The individual's question sought the president's perspective on the matter, expressing concern about the difficulty in verifying whether the allocated land for the residents of Malé City would be successfully distributed.

Responding to the inquiry, President Dr. Muizzu has once again affirmed the commitment to ensure that all individuals who were allocated land under the previous administration's 'Binveriya' housing scheme will indeed receive their respective plots.

The Ministry of Housing is actively engaged in the distribution of land documents, and the registration and issuance of land to recipients from Gulhifalhu and Giravarufalhu are currently in progress, he noted. Dr. Muizzu mentioned, "We are currently issuing temporary documents for land plots located in as of yet unreclaimed areas."

He further clarified, "The provisional document for unreclaimed areas will be legally registered only after the land is acquired. However, we are in the process of providing interim records and documentation to confirm the receipt of the land".

He emphasized in the video response shared by the official Government of Maldives account on X that every individual who received land allocations will be included, and the documentation and registration procedures are currently in progress.

During the tenure of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government, a decision was made to allocate 9,000 houses in Gulhi Falhu, Giraavaru Falhu, Hulhumalé Phase 2 and the newly reclaimed Hulhumalé Phase 3. Many individuals were assigned registries, and some were provided with land during that period. The present government is also actively working on the issuance of registrations.
