Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has said that if the currently ongoing sitting of the parliament is interrupted, the party will vote against granting approval to Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon.

A member of MDP told Mihaaru News that if pro government parliamentarians disrupt today's parliamentary sitting, the party will increase the number of ministers it will not grant approval to six.

In the Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting yesterday, MDP decided to not vote in favour of granting approval to Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed.

After yesterday's sitting was discontinued, the parliament attempted to hold a sitting last night. However, this sitting, too, had to be adjourned due to continued disruptions from pro government MPs.

The Democrats, meanwhile, have Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer on their list of those to be rejected.
