Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met on Thursday and discussed the relations between the two countries.
The two ministers met on the sidelines at the Non-Allied Movement (NAM) ministerial meetings currently being held in Kampala, Uganda.
In a post made on X, Minister Zameer commented that they discussed the high-level committee meetings held regarding the disengagement of Indian troops from Maldivian soil.
Zameer also said they discussed completion of Indian projects in Maldives as soon as possible in addition to the NAM summit and the SAARC summit as well. They also discussed the importance of both countries working together in addition to broadening the relationship between the countries as well.
While Maldives has requested India to recall their soldiers from the country, some social media posts made by deputy ministers in Maldives in a derogatory manner towards India has worsened the relationship between the two countries. The aforementioned deputy ministers have since been suspended from their positions.
