Due to adverse weather conditions in the Maldives, flights are facing difficulties in landing in some airports. This has caused multiple flight delays.
As seen on FlightRadar, the flight tracking app, multiple flights have been circling in the Maldives air space in the last five hours awaiting appropriate conditions for landing.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Media Official Sham'aan Shakir confirmed to Mihaaru News that several flights have been delayed due to the bad weather. He said that it had taken a much longer time than anticipated to facilitate the landing of some flights.
According to the Velena Airport flight schedule website, 17 flights due for arrival have been delayed, as well as 11 flights scheduled for departure.
The website shows that the delays commenced at 10.30am and have continued for about five hours.
