A Manta Air seaplane has been severely damaged during Wednesday's torrential rains in Male' area.

A video circulating on social media shows footage of the damaged plane. The footage shows that the bow of the seaplane had received extensive damage.

Communications Manager of Manta Air Mubeen Jaleel told Mihaaru News that the damage had been caused while the plane was docked in a lagoon in Male' Atoll. The plane had skidded in the rain and crashed into the dock. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

"This is something similar to what happens to sea vessels. It is not a serious matter. The boat slipped and banged into the dock, causing the damage. It has been sent for repairs now. We send it to our service centre in Dhaalu Atoll," Mubeen explained.

He confirmed that no individuals were hurt in the incident.
