4,700 cases pending at Civil Court by the end of last year

More than 4,700 cases were pending in the Civil Court at the end of last year, according to court statistics.

According to statistics released by the Civil Court, while more than 4,000 cases were filed last year, 4,800 cases were filed in court in 2022. At the end of the year, more than 4,700 cases were pending in the court.

The court decided on 4,100 cases last year.

According to the figures, last year, the court proved a debt of MVR 186 million, USD 56 million, and more than 2 million Yuan. However, during the same period, the court received only MVR 73 million and USD 2 million.

The Civil Court reported facing numerous challenges last year, primarily due to the departure of several judges and employees. This year, the court aims to collaborate closely with the public and expedite its proceedings.
