Maldives Police Services have made changes to the traffic around Ameenee Magu as the unfinished construction work on the tarred portion of the road begins on Saturday.

Police said they have decided to close the roads and lanes connecting to public transport from 6 pm on Saturday to start work on the unfinished portion of Aminee Magu and change the traffic flow as well.

The remainder of Ameenee Road is closed for construction, from the point between where the road connects with Izzuddin Magu to Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The area is one of the most congested areas on Ameenee Magu.

Therefore, the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure held a special consultation meeting with Road Development Corporation (RDC) on Monday to start the work so that the public does not suffer.

The construction of Ameenee Magu began on July 3 last year at a cost of MVR 84 million from the state budget. The work started in October last year. The previous government had aimed to complete the project by September, but it remained unfinished.
