The body of the newborn was found in a black garbage bag in the waste disposal area of the island.

According to the Dhigurah island council, the baby was discovered around 8 am when an employee at the island's waste disposal facility was at work. They further stated that the newborn was found while employees were attempting to discard garbage at the waste disposal site.
