Maldivian government condemns the Israeli attack on Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza last night, where thousands of Palestinian refugees live.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, they said the attack on Jabalia camp has caused the death and injury of a large number of Palestinians, including several children.

“The Government of the Republic of Maldives considers these deliberate acts of violence by Israel against the innocent civilian population of Palestine a gross violation of international humanitarian law, amounting to a war crime,” the ministry said in their statement.

The statement called on the United Nations to stop attacks on innocent Palestinians, and for the international community to do everything they can to work in accordance with the resolution passed by the General Assembly on Monday, regarding the attacks in Palestine.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid also posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, condemning the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine.

The Maldivian government also called to increase the humanitarian aid provided to Palestinians.

Maldives has previously released statements condemning the Israeli attacks on Palestine, and have spoken against Israel in the UN as well.

Israel has been carrying out a series of offensives against the Palestinians in retaliation for Hamas attacks on Israel on the October 7. Israel's brutal crackdown has killed more than 8,000 Palestinians and displaced hundreds of thousands of others.
