Social media activist Ahmed Ashraf (Shumba), arrested last night over assault accusations, released on Wednesday.

He was arrested on the allegations that he had assaulted a person on the road who had allegedly taped minors using a hidden camera.

Police said when he was taken to court to determine his detention, they had ruled to release him conditionally. However, they did not disclose the conditions the court had proposed. Normally, in such cases, the court would release the accused on the conditions they would cooperate with the investigation and prohibit them from leaving the island.

A photo of an MNDF Officer, allegedly involved in filming underaged girls with a secret camera placed in a room, is being circulated on social media.

Photos of the man being caught on Canary Road were also released. The police are yet to comment on the allegations against the person.
