The Anti-Corruption Commission has called on the Police and the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) to intervene and halt the destroying of paperwork at government companies and offices

Prior to this, a video released by FSM staff Ahmed Anees has been circulated on social media, showing FSM destroying multiple documents in a concrete mixer.S

Anees has since been suspended from duties at FSM. He has been working at the company for 8 years.

ACC released a statement today, saying that bringing changes, destroying or concealing state documents would obstruct the committee's investigations.

ACC appealed to companies to not undertake such actions, and for anyone aware of such a thing to report it to the authorities promptly.

"As changing, concealing or destroying state documents is a crime, we have brought this to the attention of the Police," the statement reads.

The statement also notes that the committee has appealed to the PCB to bring in effect a halt to such damage from state companies.

FSM has stated today that the documents seen being destroyed in the video are old and nugatory paperwork that had been stored in warehouses for years.
