A resolution has been submitted to the parliament seeking to ban arrivals from Israel to the Maldives.
The resolution was submitted as a formal recognition of Maldives government's condemnation of the attacks on Gaza and the Palestinian people by the Israeli government.
Vilingili MP Saud Hussain submitted the resolution which said that the Israeli government was continuing with their inhumane attacks on the women, children and innocent Palestinian civilians. The resolution recognized this as an act of terrorism by Isreal.
The resolution further urged all necessary action by the Maldives government to condemn Israel's attacks, including a travel ban on its citizens to the Maldives as well as a ban on Israeli imports.
"It is imperative for Maldives to end or suspend all forms of relationship with Israel immediately and to maintain this decision until the Israeli government relinquishes control of the lands it has forcefully occupied from Palestine," the resolution read.
The resolution also said that it was important to reveal the Maldives parliament's consensus about Israel's injustice to the international community besides condemning their attacks and ensuring human rights for the people of Palestine.
Earlier, the Maldives government condemned Israel's attacks, stating they were acts of terrorism, and reaffirmed the country's solidarity with Palestine.
