Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential candidate and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the election process is being conducted in an unprecedentedly democratic manner, unlike anything previously witnessed in the Maldives.

President Solih made these remarks while speaking to the media after casting his vote in the election.

He also noted that the election campaign had concluded in a "free and independent manner." President Solih expressed that there were no significant issues with the preparations for the commencement of the elections, and he was impressed by the process.

He said that the opening of polling booths at 8 a.m. as stipulated by the Elections Commission (EC) and allowing voters to cast their votes was a sight that had not been observed in previous elections.

"There have been no significant reports of unrest anywhere. The election campaign activities had also proceeded very smoothly. There is unprecedented peace in the Maldives," he said.

The president urged all eligible individuals to exercise their right to vote.

Transparency Maldives has reported that the overall voting process for the election has been satisfactory. According to their assessment, voting commenced before 8:10 a.m. at 85 percent of the polling stations.
