The ballot order for the candidates participating in the upcoming presidential elections has been determined through a lottery conducted by the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday, August 9.
A total of eight candidates have submitted their applications to participate in this year's election. Among them, five candidates represent political parties, while the remaining three are independent candidates.
With the exception of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the candidate from the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), and Mohamed Nazim, the candidate from the Maldives National Party (MNP), all other candidates were present at the ceremony held at Dharubaaruge today to determine their respective ballot orders.
Their electoral agents represented them during the ceremony.

2. Hassan Zameel, independent candidate
3. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, MDP's candidate
4. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, People's National Congress (PNC) candidate
5. Qasim Ibrahim, Jumhooree Party's (JP) candidate
6. Faris Maumoon, independent candidate
7. Ilyas Labeeb, The Democrats' candidate
8. Mohamed Nazim, MNP's candidate
As of today, candidates are no longer permitted to withdraw their names from the election.
The presidential election is scheduled to take place on September 9.
