The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure (MNPHI) has signed multiple agreements with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for various initiatives in Haa Alif Atoll.
Under the agreement, MTCC will undertake developmental projects on four islands in Haa Alif Atoll. The initiatives include:
Haa Alif atoll Dhidhdhoo land reclamation
- Project Cost: MVR 89.7 million
- Duration: One year
Haa Alif atoll Kelaa harbor channel dredging and breakwater
- Project Cost: MVR 18.2 million
- Duration: 10 months
Haa Alif atoll Thuraakunu land reclamation
- Project Cost: MVR 164.2 million
- Duration: One year and seven months
Haa Alif atoll Uligamu harbor expansion and shore protection
- Project Cost: MVR 79.8 million
- Duration: One year and six months
The agreements were signed by the Ministry's Director General, Fathimath Shana Farooq, on behalf of the government, while MTCC's Chief Operating Officer, Shahid Hussain, signed on behalf of the company.
While the government has signed multi-initiative agreements focused on Haa Alif atoll, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited the islands in the atoll on Wednesday, July 19, as part of his presidential campaign.
