President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to initiate land reclamation and land allotment projects in Shaviyani atoll Maroshi.

President Solih arrived in Maroshi yesterday as part of his campaign tour, where the support for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is strong. During his visit, the President expressed confidence in gaining the support of the residents of Maroshi for his re-election bid.

President Solih, campaigning under the slogan of "Ufaaveri, Amaan Raajje" which translates to "Happy, tranquil Maldives," highlighted the peaceful nature of the people of Maroshi during his visit. He acknowledged that the island, with its small population, had been neglected by previous governments. However, President Solih emphasized that his administration has worked to bring Maroshi back into focus and prioritize its development.

The President highlighted the ongoing projects being implemented in Maroshi during his campaign visit. In particular, he highlighted the water and sewerage projects on the island. While acknowledging the delays in the project, President Solih expressed his commitment to finding effective solutions to expedite the process and ensure the timely completion of these essential infrastructure projects for the people of Maroshi.

President Solih also emphasized the development of the new harbour in Maroshi during his campaign visit. He stated that the harbour would not only provide convenient access but also offer a pleasant and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors in the northern Maldives.

During his campaign visit, President Solih made significant developmental pledges for Maroshi for the next five years. He announced plans to reclaim 30 or 40 hectares of land from the island's reef, to allocate land plots to residents. Additionally, the President pledged to construct 50 housing units in the island as well.
