A cargo ship with four passengers onboard en-route to Vaavu atoll has gone missing, according to the Coast Guard.
The missing vessel "M Savaare" is a cargo ship that travels between Malé city, Vaavu atoll and Meemu atoll.
A Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) spokesperson told Mihaaru News that the vessel was carrying four passengers to Vaavu atoll.
He added that the latest information about the ship was received when it was about 10 nautical miles east of Kaafu atoll Guraidhoo.
Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has advised travelers to exercise caution during rough seas.
