Local authorities on Sunday evening, have arrested two individuals suspected of sexually abusing an 11-year-old minor in a southern island.
The suspects allegedly took the minor to a guesthouse forcefully where they sexually abused the child. Authorities reported that one of the suspects was related to the victim.
According to Maldives Police Service, the case was reported from an island falling under the jurisdiction of South Police Division around 11:00 p.m.
The police first arrested a 63-year-old male suspected of the crime and a second suspect,aged 25, was arrested later the same evening.
Authorities have not released any further details about the case as it is currently under investigation.
