The High Court on Thursday ordered former President Abdulla Yameen's appeal papers to be resubmitted to the court.
The High Court confirmed that Yameen's lawyers have been asked to amend the appeal form and resubmit it. The court did not reveal more details.
The former president was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the Criminal Court on December 25, last year, for bribery and money laundering charges in the lease of Vaavu atoll Aarah, while he was still in office.
The opposition has expressed concern over the delays in accepting the case; they maintain that Yameen is their presidential candidate for the upcoming election.
However, with the long jail sentence, Yameen has been disqualified from contesting. His lawyers remain hopeful that the appeal will go in their favour and that Yameen will be able to run in the September 9 election.
