The Ministry of Finance has reported that a total of MVR 100.8 million was collected in Green Tax during January this year.
The ministry's Green Fund Report indicates that a sum of MVR 100,789,699.40 was collected in Green Tax in the review month.
- Tourist resorts and guesthouses: MVR 99,995,910.87
- Liveaboards and safari Vessels: MVR 1,831,674.91

In contrast, Gnaviyani Atoll, where only the island of Fuvahmulah is located, had the lowest collection of just MVR 9,203.88.
It was also revealed that MVR 74.8 million from the Green Fund was allocated to various developmental projects, such as shore protection, harbour construction, and water and sanitation initiatives across the country.
The Green Fund was established with revenues from the Green Tax to fund urban development projects. It is a significant contributor to the country's efforts to achieve sustainable development.
