The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is developing a smart parking application to resolve the parking difficulties faced by Hulhumale' residents.

The growing population in the town has led to an increase in parking issues, and HDC has been actively working to address the problem by designating specific parking spaces for cars and heavy-duty vehicles.

As part of its smart parking initiative, HDC is currently testing the application as a pilot project. The corporation is also developing the country's first smart parking zone, located near the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal, with the aim of providing a seamless parking experience for users. The smart parking zone will feature auto-boom gates that provide access to vehicles upon reading their number plates, as well as CCTV cameras for added security and a digital board displaying parked vehicle information.

Users of the smart parking zone will have the option to park their vehicles for both short-term and long-term periods, and specific areas will be designated for persons with special needs. To ensure easy accessibility, HDC is also developing a digital application that will be available on both Android and iPhone devices. The app will allow users to reserve parking slots, make payments, receive notifications for empty slots, and receive navigation options to guide them to available spots.
