The Amir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has invited President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to Qatar to watch the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The Spokesperson at the President’s Office Mohamed Miuvaan on Thursday afternoon confirmed that the President received an invitation from the Amir, however, he did not reveal which game President Solih will be attending.
"It will most likely be the final or the semi-final match—I am not sure which one yet," Miuvaan said at the press conference held at the President’s Office.
When the FIFA World Cup commenced, President Solih sent greetings to the Amir for successfully hosting one of the world's largest sporting events in Qatar. He particularly noted that he was pleased that the event was being held in a Muslim country for the first time.
In May, Khalid Hassan Al-Hamadi, the CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, a Qatar-based telecommunications company operating in the Maldives, also invited the President to a World Cup game.
