The President commends MMPRC’s part in promoting tourism

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited the management and employees of The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation's (MMPRC) on Monday. The President expressed his gratitude to the employees for their essential services to the tourism industry and acknowledged the critical role played by MMPRC in marketing the Maldives as a travel destination.

For the third consecutive time, the Maldives won the title of "World's Leading Destination" at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2022, while MMPRC was awarded the "World's Leading Tourism Board." On November 11, 2022, the awards were revealed during the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2022 in Muscat, Oman.

The President thanked the employees for their dedication and hard work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. The President assured MMPRC of the administration's collaboration and assistance, describing tourism as the foundation of the nation's economy.

A commemorative plaque of appreciation, a copy of the "Tales of Maldives" book series, and a book detailing the company's achievements in 2021 were extended to the President.

Maldives competed against 18 notable destinations including Dubai and Indonesia to win the most prestigious award in global tourism, "World's Leading Destination".

World Travel Awards is the most prestigious international award in the field of tourism. Maldives has participated in the award every year since 1993 and has achieved many accolades over the years.
