The remand of 12 people arrested in drug operations in Male' city and Hulhumale' on the night of November 10 has been extended.
Maldives Police Service had arrested several people in an operation conducted in Male' and Hulhumale' as part of their anti-drug operations.
A police media official said four women and eight men, aged 23-38, were arrested on charges of drug use and possession.
- Two 23 year old men remanded in custody for 30 days
- Two 26 year old men; in custody for 15 days and five days respectively
- A 26 year old woman remanded in custody for seven days
- A 27 year old man remanded in custody for 15 days
- A 27 year old woman remanded in custody for three days
- A 31 year old woman remanded in custody for 30 days
- A 34 year old man remanded in custody for five days
- A 36 year old man remanded in custody for five days
- A 37 year old woman remanded in custody for 30 days
- A 38 year old man remanded in custody for 30 days
local medias have come to know that celebrities and social media stars were among those arrested.
Police said they are investigating the incident further. However, further details were not provided.
