Immigration Department has permitted Maldivians that hold both local and foreign passports to enter and depart from the Maldives on different passports.

The Civil Aviation Regulations do not specify a policy on how Maldivians may enter and exit the island nation on a foreign passport.

According to the amendment brought to the regulation by Immigration, Maldivians may now enter the Maldives on a foreign passport and leave on a local passport.

However, the amendment states that under such circumstances, Immigration will not stamp the foreign passport upon exit.
