In celebration of National Farmers' Day and World Food Day, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih travelled to Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo on Sunday 16th October. In 2020, the President proclaimed October 15 to be National Farmers' Day. Globally, October 16 is observed as World Food Day.
The President will attend the ceremonial reception and special feast held to celebrate the event on Kaashidhoo Island. The Kaafu Atoll Education Centre will host the reception. The President will also meet with the farmers and view an exhibition being displayed at the education center as part of the events.
The President will meet with the Women's Development Committee (WDC) and members of the island council during his visit to Kaashidhoo island. He will also visit the island's medical facility.
The President will stop at Sun Island Resort & Spa before heading to Kaashidhoo Island to see matches of the highest-caliber sporting event ever held in the Maldives, the Maldives Challenge 2022, which is now taking place on the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. The event, which will take place from 13 to 17 October, 2022, will feature elite athletes from 28 nations. The event will have the President in attendance at its closing ceremony.
The International Volleyball Federation, Volleyball Association of Maldives, and Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment are all involved in organizing the competition.
On Monday, October 17, 2022, the President will wrap up his trip to Kaashidhoo Island and head back to Malé.
