Japan, Maldives announce logo to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations

Japan and the Maldives on Tuesday announced the official logo to mark fifty years of diplomatic relations between the two Asian allies.

In a press release, the Embassy of Japan in the Maldives stated that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both nations jointly selected the logo from 24 entries that were submitted through a public competition that was conducted in the Maldives and Japan from December 27, 2016 to January 27, 2017.

The winning logo was created by Akira Unno who resides in Tokyo, Japan. His logo features the flags of the Maldives and Japan with the number 50.

According to the embassy, this logo will be used in all events related to the 50th anniversary of Japan-Maldives Diplomatic Relations this year.

The two nations established diplomatic relations in the year 1967 and has since enjoyed strong ties. Japan is also a notable ally that has continued to assist the Maldives in various ways over the years.
