Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reports the rescue of a total of nine individuals from a local safari boat which sunk after a deadly blaze.
The vessel caught fire completely in its entire hull with its ashen remains sinking afterwards, reported local authorities.
MNDF further confirms the vessel's identification as one "Avi" which was traveling 13 miles west of Kaafu atoll Gaafaru.
The authority was reported of the blaze sometime around 22:50hrs on Friday evening.
MNDF said the safari carried six of its crew members along with three tourists at the time of the incident.
The passengers and crewmen were in stable condition as they had sought safety in the diving 'dhoni' attached to the vessel when the fire erupted.
