President determined to get justice for Speaker Nasheed

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Friday that the government's resolve to seek justice for the bomb attack targeting Speaker of The Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has not changed.

He said on Twitter on the one year anniversary since the attack, that attack on Nasheed was “one of the worst acts of terrorism” that had occurred on Maldivian soil. He said he was thankful to Allah that Nasheed had survived the attack.

He further stated that the government remains committed to ensuring justice for this case is achieved.

However, Nasheed’s family has expressed concern over the lack of full justice over the bombing. This is in regards to the delay of the trials of those involved in the attack as well as the lack of advancement in the investigation to find the people that funded the election.

According to the police Nasheed was attacked by religious extremists. Mohamed Adhuham, who was involved in the bombing, was sentenced to 23 years in prison. The trials of the remaining suspects are ongoing.
