Prez to appoint Chief of Protocol to Ambassadorship post

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is set to appoint Ms. Shan Shakir, the current Chief of Protocol, for the new Maldives Ambassador to Germany.

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is set to appoint Ms. Shan Shakir, the current Chief of Protocol, for the new Maldives Ambassador to Germany.

Meanwhile, the Maldives statesman has forwarded Ms. Shakir's name to the Maldives Parliament for approval.

Ms. Shakir, the very first female Chief of Protocol of Maldives will be replacing Mr. Ahmed Latheef, for the position of the Ambassador, should she become appointed to the position.

Furthermore, MP Eva Abdulla confirms Ms. Shakir's name has been forwarded to Foreign Affairs Committee of the parliament for assessment and evaluation.

Ms. Shakir was first appointed as the Chief of Protocol on 15th November 2020.

Prior to becoming the Chief of Protocol, she held several positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which includes positions of Joint Secretary as well as Maldives Ambassador to Bangladesh.
