Male’ area showed zero Covid-19 cases for the first time since the first coronavirus virus case was recorded in Male’.

According to the weekly covid statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) on, 37 cases of Covid-19 was recorded in Greater Male’ Area from April 17 to April 23.

The statistics show that no cases reported on Saturday, April 23. A total of 78 samples were tested for covid that day. This is the first time zero cases were recorded since the first case of covid was recorded in Male’ on April 15, 2020.

Covid cases were at its highest in January of this year, where daily cases were over 2,000 on some occasion.

In the previous week, a total of 288 cases were reported in Maldives; 205 cases were from administrative islands while the remaining 46 cases were from other areas. The total number of confirmed covid cases in Maldives are 179,191 as of Monday.

Even though covid cases are not being recorded in Male' right now, the disease is still spreading islands. Thirty-eight cases were confirmed on Saturday, while 12 cases were recorded on Friday.

A total of 42 people tested positive for covid on Saturday in Maldives, half the number of Tuesday, the day with the most number of cases last week, with a total of 84 cases.
