Parliament Speaker and former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has urged the immediate removal of the "India Out" banner erected at the residence of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Nasheed had demanded police involvement to ensure the immediate removal of the contentious banner.

Gayoom's residence reflected the vast banner echoing the Maldives opposition's continued efforts of promulgate an ousting Indian military personnel from various areas of Maldives.

Parliament Speaker perceived this act in direct violation of the Maldivian constitution and the criminal or penal code.

Moreover, Nasheed claimed that such acts were against the domestic affairs of the country as well.

The Speaker's comments were made while discoursing over an opposition proposed resolution related to the inhuman treatment of Indian state against its Muslim population.

Nasheed claimed that the democratic philosophies and regulations does not allow for discourse over such issues and it pertains to the domestic or civil affairs of a neighboring country, which was outside the democratic "jurisdiction" of Maldives.
